The European Commission has cleared Tenaris’s acquisition of Romanian steel pipe maker Artrom Steel Tubes (case M.12428). Tenaris notified the deal to the Commission in early September 2026.
The Commission found the deal would not raise competition concerns. It said credible competitors would continue to supply customers in the markets where the two companies operate.
Tenaris announced the deal in May. It is buying 100% of Artrom’s share capital from US-based GLGH Steel, LLC for an aggregate price of €86 million, on a cash-free and debt-free basis and including a normalised level of working capital.
Artrom makes steel and seamless steel pipe. Its plants in Reșița and Slatina give it steelmaking capacity of about 450,000 metric tons a year and seamless pipe rolling capacity of up to 200,000 metric tons a year.
Tenaris said the acquisition will widen its industrial pipe range and manufacturing footprint, and strengthen its ability to serve customers in the European industrial segment.
Closing is still expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. EU clearance was one of the conditions. The deal also needs Romanian government approvals and other customary regulatory conditions.
